Marilyn Dugdale

Marilyn Dugdale was one of the original Board Members when Hospice of Homer was founded in 1985. Ms. Dugdale has a BS in Nursing from the University of Connecticut, an Associate of Arts from Kachemak Bay Campus Kenai Peninsula College/University of Alaska Anchorage and a BS in Business Accounting from the University of Phoenix. She was an intensive care nurse for 22 years before coming to Homer in 1985. She has had the experience of losing a family member without Hospice support as well as with and knows the immense difference that the involvement of Hospice can make in the end of life experience for both the patient and the family. She has been a supporter of Hospice since its inception and rejoined the Board in 2010.

Barbara Glidden

Barbara Glidden has worked with several non-profits over numerous years. She found Hospice through her mother, brother and a dear friend. Barbara has served as a board member for the past 4 years and heads the Sees' candy fundraising efforts.

Beth Graber

Beth Graber joined the HOH board in 2009 after experiencing first-hand the important and highly supportive services hospice provides to families facing end-of-life transitions. As a long-time professor of composition and communications at the Kachemak Bay Campus of Kenai Peninsula College/University of Alaska Anchorage, a frequent community volunteer, and a former board member of other local non-profits, she hopes that her background, experience, and commitment to our mission will help ensure that our community continues to have ready and growing access to the compassionate, professional, and necessary services Hospice of Homer provides.

Christi Griffard

Christi Griffard has lived in Homer since 2006, and joined the Hospice of Homer Board of Directors in 2008. Prior to coming to Homer, Christi’s volunteer efforts were focused on women’s and children’s advocacy issues through the Junior League of Miami. She is currently the Wells Fargo Private Banker for the Kenai Peninsula. She is based at the Homer office, and has been with Wells Fargo since 2007. She has been in the financial industry since 1993. Christi holds her Chartered Financial Analyst designation, and earned both her MBA and BBA from the University of Miami.

Dr. Peter Larson

Dr. Peter Larson, a retired school teacher, administrator and college professor has lived in Homer since 1985. He has served on many nonprofit boards including The Kachemak Bay Campus of the Kenai College, The Center for Alaskan Coastal Studies and The Homer-Kachemak Bay Rotary Club. The knowledge he gained by his many hours of volunteering his time and expertise for local nonprofits he will bring to The Hospice Board. He sees Hospice of Homer a vital organization for the health of the community.

Gloria Hensen

Gloria Hensen has been involved with mentoring people most of her life as a mother involved with Scouts and Little League and as a teacher of young children for 26 years. She received her BA Degree from Oregon State University and her Masters in Early Childhood Development from Boise State. She has serviced the community as a HOH Board member for 7 years. Her involvement evolved as a result of family members receiving Hospice services in another state.

Ceil C. Manchester

Ceil has been on the HOH Board since 2002. Her experience in the lower forty-eight as a registered nurse caring for end-of-life patients combined with her years in Homer as a school nurse at Paul Banks Elementary contributed to her becoming involved with HOH. As a board member she felt she could give back and support the community in her area of experience! Through personal experience Ceil has noted the much needed service that Hospice provides for our community.

Jennifer McLay

Jennifer McLay is a Hospice of Homer Board member.

Julie Shaw

Julie Shaw is a new member on the HOH Board. Julie found Hospice through three family members. She graduated from experience to good use with the Hospice organization.

Suzanne Singer-Alvarez

Suzanne Singer-Alvarez graduated from University of Oregon with a degree that included event planning and working with others in leadership positions. After retirement, with some extra time, she wanted to draw on these skills to help with a cause in which she believes: Hospice. Being on the board of Hospice allows her to put energy into something she is interested in, while offering support for a much needed community service.
